NASA spacecraft is touching the sun |
A NASA spacecraft has officially touched the sun. The spacecraft has crossed the undiscovered solar system called Jyotibalaya or Corona. Which will be a historic milestone for solar scientists.
The announcement was made at a meeting of the American Geophysical Union on Tuesday (December 14th).
The Parker Solar Probe was launched last April. This was the eighth time the spacecraft had approached the sun.
Scientists say it took several months to get the data and a few more months to confirm it. Sixty years ago, NASA undertook a project to reach this goal. The first Parker Solar Probe has launched three years ago.
Thomas Jurbuchen, the assistant administrator of NASA's science mission department, said the Parker Solar Probe has touched the sun.
This is a significant moment and achievement for solar science. Not only sound education but his attention and dedication too are most required.
The first Parker Solar Probe was launched in 2018. The spacecraft then began orbiting near the sun. It is named after the astrophysicist Eugene Parker.
The luminosity is much hotter than the actual surface of the sun. And this time the reason can be explored through this spacecraft.
