Emma Raducanu, the young US Open champion, was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year. She became the first female athlete since 2006 to win the title.
Last year, then-18-year-old Raducanu ended a 44-year wait for the British in the women's singles Grand Slam by winning the US Open. She made her debut at the US Open at the end of the year after making her debut in the fourth round of Wimbledon in her debut in the main event last July.
Diver Tom Daley has been named second in the Sports Personality of the Year this year by popular vote. The third was swimmer Adam PT. Rahim Sterling of Man City, boxer Tyson Fury and Sarah Storey, Great Britain's all-time great Paralympian, were shortlisted for the vote.
Emma, now 19, is Britain's number one female tennis player and the first female tennis player since Virginia Wood to win the title of Sports Personality in 1977.
